At that time, Dr. J Radhakrishnan, the Collector of Nagapattinam, was found crying in the scattered debris, which was placed in the Annai Satya Government Children Home of Nagapattinam after rescue. The devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami, which came on 26 December 2004, caused a huge havoc in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, killing more than 6,000 people. Amidst this disaster, Dr. J Radhakrishnan, who was the district collector of Nagapattinam at that time, found a small girl near the rubble, who was crying. The girl’s name was Meena, who was later kept in the Annai Satya Government Children’s Home. However, Dr. Radhakrishnan and his wife Kritika continued to take care of Meena and never let her feel alone.
