The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the growing pending cases in the Allahabad High Court. The Supreme Court said that there is no doubt that the Allahabad High Court is full of cases. We have been told that every judge of the High Court has about 15000 to 20000 cases. The accepted number of judges in the High Court is 160, but unfortunately today it is working with 84 judges. The plaintiffs are eagerly waiting for the hearing and decision of their cases.
The Supreme Court said this on the petition of a 95 -year -old woman. The petition requested the Allahabad High Court to consider its second appeal pending since 2013 and to settle the case as soon as possible.
A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan directed that the order passed in the current writ petition will be considered as a representation addressed to the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, which is in relation to cases pending for many decades in the High Court for many decades and In this regard, we will pass appropriate orders on their administrative side. The Supreme Court admitted that the High Court is struggling to deal with pending cases and its only measure is to take necessary steps as soon as possible to fill the vacancies by recommending appropriate persons on the basis of merit and capacity.
The bench has said in its order, “In the last two months we have received many writ petitions, which have been filed by the litigants, whose proceedings have been pending before the Allahabad High Court for the last three decades, in which demand for this instruction It has been done that the case should be heard quickly by the High Court. The accepted number of judges in the High Court is 160, but unfortunately today it is working with 84 judges. The plaintiffs are eagerly waiting for their matters and decisions. “
The court said, “The only solution is that necessary steps should be taken as soon as possible to fill the vacancies and recommended on the basis of pure ability and capacity.
