New Delhi:
Both Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar were the superstars of cinema. While Rajkumar was known for his hard mood, Dilip Kumar was also no less. The two stars worked together in the 90 superhit film Saudagar. It is said that there was a dispute between the two stars during the shooting of Subhash Ghai’s film Saudagar. In an interview, actor Prashant Narayanan, who was the art director of ‘Saudagar’, told YouTuber Siddharth Kannan that due to Raj Kumar, Subhash Ghai had to cancel the shooting of ‘Saudagar’ song ‘Saudagar’ song ‘Tamari Ka Buta’.
He told, “Dilip Kumar had told an assistant that he is wearing a contact lens, so no one threw ‘Gulal’ on his face. Three people went to Raj Kumar and told him not to throw colors on Dilip Kumar’s face. At the last moment, Subhash ji also said to him, ‘Raj ji, just put a pussy color’ .. Now you will repeat the same thing, if you agree with Raj Kumar.
When the shot was ready, Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar were standing in front of each other. Prashant further said, “They were face to face with each other and I was standing with a tray in the middle which had the colors of Holi. As soon as ‘Action’ was said, Raj Kumar, who had to take only a pinch of color, took a handful of color and threw Dilip Kumar on the face of Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar suffered pain and Raj Kumar stood there.” There was a complete silence on the set and Subhash Ghai made a voice. “Stop the light.” After his move, Raj Kumar said, “Pack up.” Prashant further said, “Now there was no way that Dilip Kumar should come back and shoot.” Although Subhash Ghai had made a big change in casting by bringing Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar with ‘Saudagar’, but there was always tension on the set of the film.
Let me tell you that there was a rift between Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar when Raj Kumar slapped Dilip Kumar strongly during the shooting of Ramanand Sagar’s 1959 film ‘Paigam’. After this incident, both of them decided to never work together.
