On Wednesday, 30 people have lost their lives in a stampede that took place on the occasion of Amavasya Snan of Mauni Amavasya at the ongoing Mahakumbh fair in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. 60 people injured in the stampede are undergoing treatment. Tent City is built in 4,000 hectares
The Uttar Pradesh government has made temporary arrangements near the Sangam for the devotees coming to Mahakumbh. A temporary city named Tent City has settled in 4,000 hectares (9,990 acres) on the Sangam shore. This tent city is equal to the size of 7,500 football grounds. It has 150,000 tents and similar number of temporary toilets.
69000 LED and solar lights have been installed in Tent City. About 15 thousand employees have been employed for cleanliness work here.

The Uttar Pradesh government said that more than 57.1 million devotees took a dip in Triveni Sangam on Wednesday on Mauni Amavasya. At the same time, the number of Kalpavis who do spiritual penance of a month has crossed 1 million.

After the stampede incident, the Mahakumbh Mela administration has implemented one-way traffic system to streamlines the movement of devotees. To reduce the crowd, trains coming from neighboring districts coming to Prayagraj are also being stopped on the border. To maintain the system, the entry of four wheeler in the city has been completely banned.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial inquiry into the stampede incident in Mahakumbh. They have formed a 3 -member commission for this.
