It has been a year since the PM Surya Ghar Free Power Scheme (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijali Yojana), and during this time the plan has completed 8.6% target. The scheme aims to install solar panels on 1 crore houses in three years, and in the first year 8,61,240 houses have been installed in Rooftop Solar System.
A total of Rs 4,966 crore subsidy released so far
A total of 43,99,431 applications were received under this scheme. While the total registration increased to Rs 1.7 crore. According to sources, till January 29, 8,61,240 (19%of the total applications) have been installed by the families of roftop solar system. Of which, out of the prescribed budget of 78,000 crore, a total of Rs 4,966 crore subsidy has been released so far.
Plan to reach 1 crore homes by March 2027
The government estimates that by March 2025, 10 lakh houses will be installed solar panels. By October 2025, 20 lakh installations, 40 lakh installations by March 2026 and 1 crore houses by March 2027 will reach the scheme.
Solar installation will rise in next two years
Experts believe that solar installation will increase rapidly in FY26 and FY27. In the first year, due to General Elections and State Elections, the speed was a bit slow. At the same time, government processes will be easier in the next two years, which will speed up the installation.
