The central government has signed an investment of Rs 18,500 crore under the proposals received under the PM Mitra Park Scheme with a view to promoting production, employment and exports in the textile sector. This information was given to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. With the objective of developing integrated large scale and modern industrial infrastructure facility for cloth industry value chain, the Center has approved setting up seven PM Mitra Parks in Greenfield/Brownfield sites with a plan of Rs 4,445 crore. The scheme has been approved for a period from 2021-22 to 2027-28.
The government has finalized seven sites to set up the PM Mitra Park, including Tamil Nadu (Vicnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalburgi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow) and Maharashtra (Amravati).
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said in a written reply in Parliament that once it is completed, it is expected that each PM Mitra Park will attract an investment of about Rs 10,000 crore and create about 3 lakh (both direct and indirect) employment opportunities.
Giving information, the Union Minister said that in other initiatives being implemented to promote the development of the textile sector, Integrated Textile Park (SITP), Integrated Processing Development Scheme (IPDS), Promotion related to Production (PLI) Scheme, National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM), Plan (ATUFS), Resham Samagra-2, National Handloom Development Program (NHDP) and National Handicrafts Development Program (NHDP).
Apart from this, the government is promoting the handloom sector and conducting the National Handloom Development Program and Raw Mall Supply Scheme for the welfare and benefit of handloom workers across the country.
The Union Minister said that under the schemes, the purchase of raw materials, upgraded looms and accessories, solar lighting units, construction of work shades, product diversification and design innovation, technical and common infrastructure, marketing in domestic and overseas markets, market products in domestic and foreign markets, is the purchase of raw materials, upgraded looms and accessories, solar lighting units, work shades. Financial assistance is provided for concessional loans and various social security benefits.
