Lucknow, Amrit thoughts. Holi is a festival of colors. Mind, food and drink and fun make the whole atmosphere alive. In a happy season, people drench each other in colors, Gujhiya’s sweetness fills a new closeness and warm in mutual relations, but sometimes the health is damaged during the game-furnace and food. This is to say that Dr. Suryakant, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine of King George Medical University (KGMU).
Dr. Suryakant has said that till a few decades ago, the colors of Holi were completely natural. Holi played with colors of flowers was completely safe for the skin. Chemical colors have transformed Holi into a dangerous festival. Usually every chemical color is mixed with some malignant chemical that can damage the eye, skin, nose and many times to liver and kidneys. Some colors are also cancer factors. Chemical colors can cause irritation on the skin and marks. The lead in Gulal and Abir can cause redness and severe itching in the skin.
In addition, these poisonous elements can cause far -reaching damage to the body by going inside the body from the mucosal surface of the skin, nose or mouth. Similarly, if the colors are not cleaned for a long time, the hair becomes extremely dry and starts to break. This is caused by chemicals present in colors and dust outside. Wet chemical colors also contain malignant aeromatic compounds such as green copper sulfate, mercury sulfate, inorganic and benzene, which can cause skin allergies, dermatitis and rugged. Synthetic colors cause problems like skin rains, skin allergies, skin peel, skin or eye irritation, itching, dryness in the skin or eyes, dryness in the skin, torn skin. When you rub the skin to remove color, the chemical called benzene damages the upper part of the skin. Green color may include copper sulfate, causing an allergic problem in the eye. Purple color can contain chromium iodide, which can cause bronchial asthma and allergic problems.
Therefore, allergies and respiratory patients should stay away from Holi, only natural gulal should be used. During Holi, Abir, Gulal and color produces small-looking particles containing chemicals in the atmosphere, which go into the respiratory tract of the respiratory patients and then cause swelling and shrinkage in the respiratory tract, which causes the patient to cough and swell. The same reaction also occurs in the nose and there are problems like sneezing from the nose, water coming out and sore throat. Silver color may include aluminum bromide, which can cause skin diseases.
During the meeting of Holi, food and drink becomes extreme, which can cause problems like acidity, indigestion, gastritis and vomiting. In such a situation, take care of health while eating. Try to eat light and digestible food. Avoid consuming oily, sharp, rich and spicy things. At this time, there is a possibility of adulteration in most of the food and drink found in the market, so it is good to give priority to the food items made in the house.
Ways of safety
According to Dr. Suryakant, adopt these methods of protection from colors- use only natural colors. Apply oil well in your hair before playing Holi. Play Holi only by covering the body properly. Apply good quality cream or oil on the whole body skin. If you feel irritation in the skin, wash the color immediately. If there is severe redness or swelling on the skin, avoid going in the sun.
After playing Holi, it is most important to wash the skin and hair as soon as possible. Do not rub soap on the skin and rub it vigorously, but try to remove the color with the help of natural boiling and raw milk. Later, you can wash the skin and hair with a good soap or shampoo. Children, elderly and patients with prolonged disease should take special care of the time of Holi.
