Uncertainty must understand: Finance Minister
He said that we should understand uncertainty in the defense budget. He said that the year he has to pay, more provisions have to be made in that year. At the same time, the year in which he does the order, he has to give the first installment. They have a long term project plan and if imported, arrangements are made accordingly.
Export of more than 25 thousand crores
He said that about 60 percent of the defense equipment made in India is bought in India itself. He also said that some big things are imported from abroad and it is different. He said that India’s defense production is not only for India, but defense equipment is also being exported to other countries. India’s defense exports have crossed the figure of Rs 25 thousand crore.
Defense budget of Rs 6.81 lakh crore
Earlier, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday fixed Rs 6,81,210 crore for the defense budget of 2025-26. This is 9.53 percent more than Rs 6.22 lakh crore allocated for the current financial year. Thus the defense budget is 13.45 percent of the total budget of Rs 50,65,345 crore.
He has set an amount of Rs 1,80,000 crore for the capital expenditure of the armed forces, including the purchase of new weapons, aircraft, warships and other military equipment on a large scale. The budget for defense is about 1.9 percent of the estimated GDP (GDP) and the revised allocation for the current financial year is about 6.2 percent more than Rs 6.41 lakh crore.
