The people living here had never imagined so much heat. In view of the rising temperature during the day, the Regional Meteorological Department had to issue an alert up to Heatwave. In some parts of Maharashtra including Greater Mumbai, the heatstroke is going on according to the forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department and this situation can continue till March 11. On Tuesday, people will have to face heat and humidity in the areas of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar.
Why Mumbai’s mercury is growing after all
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is increasing due to anti -cyclone in the Arabian Sea. IMD Mumbai director Sunil Kamble said that the current increase in temperature is the result of eastern winds. However, the temperature is going to fall in the coming days.
How much mercury is increasing
- IMD has not issued heatwave an alert for Tuesday. But due to the heat, Yellow alert has been issued.
- The temperature is expected to be around 37 degrees on Tuesday.
- The temperature may be slightly lower from Friday and can come up to 34 degrees.
- The Santacruz Observatory of IMD recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius as compared to the previous day’s 34.8 degree Celsius.
- The Colaba Observatory recorded a temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius on Monday as compared to 31.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
- On Wednesday i.e. March 12, the minimum and maximum temperature in Mumbai is estimated to be 28.19 ° C and 31.05 ° C respectively.
- According to IMD records, Mumbai had the highest temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius so far. Which was recorded on 28 March 1956.

How to avoid heat
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has advised the residents to drink enough water even if not thirsty, wear loose cotton clothes of lightweight, wear sunglasses, wear shoes and take umbrellas while leaving the house/offices to deal with the discomfort related to heat. Avoid drinking alcohol, tea, coffee or cold drinks.
What to do when heatstroke
If a person sees symptoms of heatstroke, then take him under a cold place or shed and an attempt should be made to reduce body temperature. Wipe it with wet cloth/wash the body again and again. Pour normal temperature water on the head. Give the person ORS (mixture of water, sugar and electrolytes), lemonade or any other drink. By doing this, the body will be hydrated.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi-NCR in the coming days. According to IMD, light to moderate rains are expected in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and some areas of Haryana, while the Shimla Center of IMD has issued a ‘yellow alert’ in various places in Himachal Pradesh on Monday and Wednesday to Friday, predicting drizzle with thunder.
