A judicial inquiry into the stampede in Mahakumbh has started.
Mahakumbh Stampede Update: On the day of Mauni Amavasya, there was a stampede in the Mahakumbh of Prayagraj. So far 30 people have died in this accident. Many are injured. It has been told from the administration that there was a stampede due to the breakdown of barricading. After this incident on Mauni Amavasya, a meeting of senior officers was held at the house of CM Yogi Adityanath. There was a churn on making the system full. How did a stampede in Mahakumbh! For this, the Yogi government has ordered a judicial inquiry.
A commission of three members has been formed under the leadership of retired Justice Harsh Kumar. The Commission will visit Prayagraj tomorrow i.e. 31 January. The judicial commission has started work within twenty -four hours of the government’s order. The remaining two members of the commission are VK Gupta and DK Singh. Gupta has been the DG Home Guard of UP. Singh is a retired IAS officer. All the three members of the commission reached their office in Lucknow today.
Commission Chairman Justice Harsh Kumar said, “Because the investigation is to be taken on priority basis, we have taken charge within a few hours of the announcement.” He said, “We have a month’s time, but still we will try to complete the investigation fast.
According to the notification issued by the Yogi government, the Commission will investigate the causes and circumstances of the stampede. At the same time, in the future, there will be suggestions to prevent recurrence of such incident. Mauni is considered to be the biggest festival in Mahakumbh. On this day, devotees also bathe along with the saints of the akhara. The UP government claims that about eight crore people took a bath that day.
