Police of Gumla district of Jharkhand have arrested the banned organization PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India) and arrested two lakh Naxalites Durga Singh alias Panjri and two of his associates. Durga Singh was included in the list of Most Wanted Naxalites of Jharkhand Police for a long time. He is among the founding members of this Naxalite organization. About a year and a half ago, the same was leading the organization after the arrest of PLFI supremo Dinesh Gop. There are 18 cases registered against him in different police station areas.
Gumla SP Shambhu Kumar Singh told in a press conference on Thursday that these three have been arrested from Murumkela Tetratoli in Kamdara police station area. Apart from Durga Singh, these include Kaleshwar Hazam alias Tempu Hazam and Rajkumar Singh.
Durga Singh is a resident of Jariyya Jarya Jarna in Lapung police station area of Ranchi, while Rajkumar Singh is a resident of Hendebili village in Ormanjhi police station area of Ranchi. Kaleshwar Hazam has been said to be a resident of Bakaspur in Jariyarh police station area of Khunti district. A regular double barrel rifle, a native katta, eight live bullets, three leaflets of PLFI, a mobile phone and a bike have been seized from them. Durga Singh is accused of collecting extortion money by threatening many businessmen and contractors.
The SP said that he had received secret information that some militants of PLFI were preparing to carry out a major incident in the Kamdara police station area. He formed a special team led by Basia SDPO Nazir Akhtar for action, some suspects were seen riding on two bikes near Murumkela Tetratoli at around 10:30 pm on Wednesday night. When the police gestured to stop, everyone started running towards the forest. People riding on a bike managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness. At the same time, three people riding on another bike were caught.
