In the year 2024-25, the capital outlay was Rs 1.72 lakh crore and as per the revised estimate, the amount is Rs 1,59,500 crore, which suggests that an amount of about Rs 13,500 crore has not been spent yet. Revenue expenditure related to daily work and salary for the next financial year has been estimated at Rs 4,88,822 crore, including Rs 1,60,795 crore for pension.
The allocation for the defense budget in the year 2025-26 is estimated to be 1.91 percent of the estimated GDP. Under the capital expenditure, Rs 48,614 crore has been kept separate for fighter jets and its engines. At the same time, Rs 24,390 crore has been allocated for the Navy fleet. An amount of Rs 63,099 crore has been kept for other equipment. A separate allocation of Rs 4,500 crore has been made for naval projects. In the year 2024-25, the government had allocated Rs 6,21,940 crore for the defense budget.
It is believed that India will work very fast on the theater command this year. Also, there can be a big deal about new fighter jets this year. It is clear that India is focusing on development as well as its safety. India currently needs 42 squadrons in the Air Force for its safety, but currently there are 30-32 squadrons. In such a situation, apart from Tejas and Rafael, India needs a fifth generation aircraft.
