Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday that India is considering achieving a long -term target of 1,800 GW renewable energy capacity under the target of India by 2047. Addressing the India Energy Infection Summit here, Joshi said, “Overall, things are very fast. Now we are not thinking about 2030 (when 500 GW renewable energy will be achieved), we are thinking about 2047. ”
Joshi has charge of ‘Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’. He said that whatever plan has been prepared for 2030, it will be completed but we are also thinking about 2047 (target of 1,800 GW). The minister said, “We have a long -term vision and blueprint for 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi … We will definitely achieve 500 GW of capacity by 2030, it is sure. We are also working to establish a capacity of 1,800 GW by 2047. ”
He said that by 2030, 500 GW is a short -term scheme and the government is focusing on long -term targets for 2047. Joshi said, “We have reached about 100 gigawatts of solar capacity in the country. In the coming years, we expect to add about 50 gigawatts of new capacity annually. This is the speed on which we are moving forward. “
Joshi said that the renewable energy (RE) capacity established has increased by about 200 percent from 75.52 GW of March 2014 to 220 gW. Initiative to install solar energy equipment on roofs, about Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana, he said that so far 8.5 lakh solar power plants have been set up.
