Kanpur, Amrit thoughts. IIT will protect the fully indigenous robot powergrid at Kanpur. This robot is equipped with the merits of artificial intelligence. The institute has handed over the ‘Substation Inspection Robot’ developed in its SMSS laboratory to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
The exchange was held at Gridcon held in Delhi in the presence of Energy Minister Manohar Lal of the Government of India and Ravindra Kumar Tyagi, President and Managing Director of Powergrid. It was informed by the institute that SIR developed by IIT Kanpur in collaboration with Powergrid is an advanced autonomous mobile robot.
Which is designed to protect and increase the security of substation inspections. It is equipped with AI-Interested Navigation, Lidar, Depth camera and motion sensors. The robot was successfully tested on 13 July 2024 at Powergrid Kanpur Substation. During this, IIT Director Prof. Manindra Aggarwal said that India is on the path of becoming a developed nation.
IIT Kanpur shines in QS rankings
IIT Kanpur has performed better in the QS rankings. In this rankings found in 5 categories, IIT Kanpur has got a place between 72 to 450 places in different subjects. The institute is ranked 72nd in the Engineering and Technology category.
In computer science, 110th is ranked 92nd in Electrical. The global rank has been ranked 350 in the Social Sciences and Management category. The global rank is 401 to 450 locations in the Art and Humanities category. The global rank is ranked 182nd in the Natural Science category.
