The example of “Udta Assam” was given by Assam CM from the 2016 Bollywood film ‘Udta Punjab’. The film was based on the theme of drug addiction in Punjab.

The Chief Minister of Manipur said that more than 25 acres of illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed in the Khudei Khullan hill range of Tenganaulpar subdivision and the first information report (FIR) was filed today. Manipur is facing ethnic violence between Maetai and the Cookie community. Both communities have been fighting on many issues like land rights and political representation since May 2023.
Manipur and Drugs
The cookie tribes have alleged that the Biren Singh government targeted poor farmers in the hills, who have no other source of income and ignored the role of drug mafias living in the Maetai-Prabhu Valley areas. The Manipur government has denied the allegations and claimed that no community has been included in the state’s ‘war against drugs’ campaign.
A crowd of about 80 people of the Cookie tribe on Friday faced a security team to destroy illegal opium cultivation in Kangpokpi district of Manipur and damaged four vehicles. The incident took place in the Lungjang hill range, where the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police personnel went. An FIR has been registered in the case.
