The CBI’s Wildlife Crime Unit has carried out a major action with officials of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. During this action, the CBI has come to know about the poaching of wildlife and illegal business of their organs. The CBI took this action in the early hours of Monday and arrested four accused with many animal skins.
According to the information, CBI and WCCB officials carried out this action in Pinjore, Haryana. When the authorities stopped a vehicle and searched it, many parts of wildlife were recovered from it.
What were the officials recovered?
- Leopard skins – 2
- Leopard teeth – 9
- Leopard claws – 25
- Leopard jaw pieces – 3
- Skin of Udibalav – 3
- Pangoline peel

Case registered in these sections
During this, three accused Pirdas, Wazira and Ram Dayal were arrested from the spot. At the same time, another member of a gang named Rohtas was caught from Kalka railway station. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under Section 61 (2) of the Indian Code (BNS) 2023 and Section 40, 49, 49B, 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Significantly, Nepal Police has already filed a charge sheet in the case of wildlife crime against one of the arrested accused.
CBI engaged in investigation
All the seized wildlife materials are included in Schedule-I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which strictly prohibit the hunting and trade of these rare and endless species and provides strict punishment for the culprits.
