Large scale high blood pressure and diabetes patients have been treated in the country. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said that under the government’s ambitious initiative ’75 by 25 ‘, 42.01 million people of high blood pressure and 25.27 million of diabetes have been treated. The government started the ’75 by 25 ‘initiative in May 2023, which aims to take 75 million people suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes in the country by December 2025.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Jadhav said that India has achieved 89.7 percent of the target of treating non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Explain that heart disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, diabetes, high blood pressure are counted in NCDs, which are responsible for more than 70 percent of deaths annually.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched an NCD screening campaign on 20 February to identify and deal with such diseases. The campaign will run till 31 March. The purpose of this nationwide campaign is to screen 100 percent of people aged 30 years and above, so that such patients can be identified. It is being run in Ayushman Arogya Temple facilities and other health care institutions under NP-NCD.
In addition, the Ministry of Health launched the National Program (NP-NCD) in 2010 to prevent increasing cases of NCDs like high blood pressure, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer.

The program includes initial identity and investigation of people aged 30 years and above, implementing the investigation at all levels of healthcare care and providing assistance for accurate treatment.
