Our government will arrange their identity cards and registration on e -ram portal: Finance Minister

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman On Saturday, he said that the government will arrange identity cards and registration on the e -ram stage to assist one crore ‘Gig’ workers. Employees who provide delivery services for e-commerce companies fall under the category of Gig personnel. While presenting the Union Budget 2025-26, the Finance Minister said that a scheme will be implemented for the socio-economic upliftment of urban workers. He said, “The ‘Gig’ workers ‘new age’ of the online forum gives great mobility to the service economy. Recognizing their contribution, our government will arrange their identity cards and registration on the e -ram portal. ”
Sitharaman said that such workers will be provided health care facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and about one crore workers are likely to get help from this measure. In his budget speech, the Finance Minister said that by next year 10,000 seats will be added to medical colleges and hospitals, while 75,000 seats will be added in the next five years. The government will also provide the facility of setting up ‘daycare’ cancer centers in all district hospitals in the next three years.
