New Delhi:
Politics has started to heat up before the assembly elections in Bihar. Politicians and political parties are engaged in setting issues. After the Ram temple in politics, now the issue of Sita temple is getting caught up. In a program in Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that we have built a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, now it is time to build a grand Sita temple in Sitamarhi, Bihar. He had said that a grand mother Janaki temple will be built in Sitamarhi. He had said that before the Bihar assembly elections, we will camp there, I call the people of Mithila to come with me. His statement has stepped up the stir in Bihar politics.
Where is the birthplace of Sita Mata
Actually, the Sita temple that Amit Shah was talking about is a temple in Sitamarhi district coming to Mithila. There is a mother Janaki Janmabhoomi temple in Punora village, five kilometers from Sitamarhi city. It is also called by the name of Punaura Dham. It is believed that Mother Sita was born at this place. A project of renovation and renovation of Punaura Dham began in September 2023. The government plan was to develop this place as a religious tourist destination. In September 2023, there was a coalition government of Nitish Kumar’s JDU and Lalu Yadav’s RJD in Bihar. Nitish Kumar broke the relationship with RJD in January 2024. Now after Amit Shah’s statement, JDU has demanded more money for this project.
On Amit Shah’s statement, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said that there is no place in Bihar to set up Shah’s camp. RJD feels that it is not going to get any electoral benefit of this effort of BJP, because there is no place for communal politics in Bihar.
What is BJP doing in Mithila
At the same time, BJP is trying to make the Sita temple of Sitamarhi a Ram temple of Ayodhya. His eye is on Mithila area of Bihar. She is paying special attention to this area. To understand this, you have to look at the expansion of Nitish Kumar’s cabinet in the past. In this expansion, seven ministers of BJP quota were included in the Nitish cabinet, three of those seven ministers come from Mithila region alone. With this, the number of ministers of Mithila region in Nitish cabinet has increased to nine. The maximum number of four ministers are from Darbhanga, which is considered the capital of Mithila. BJP also wins in Mithila, especially in urban seats. RJD and JDU’s hold on rural areas is strong. The BJP is trying to break it a strong grip.

The leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal has demanded to make Mithila a separate state.
The area of Mithila is an area with the influence of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). If we talk about Sitamarhi, then this seat went to the account of Janata Dal United in the Lok Sabha elections. From there, JDU gave ticket to Devesh Chandra Thakur. He defeated RJD’s Arjun Rai by a margin of more than 50 thousand votes. On the other hand, if you talk about the assembly elections, then the NDA’s fall there is heavy. Sitamarhi has a total of six assembly seats. Out of these three seats, BJP and two seats are with JDU. At the same time, only one seat is occupied by RJD. In the Lok Sabha elections, NDA candidates won many seats like Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Ujiarpur, Madhubani, Sitamarhi. In the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA had won its gathering in 30 out of 39 seats in the entire Bihar.
Mithila, Maithili and Makhana
The BJP has taken several steps keeping Mithila in mind. In the last year November, President Draupadi Murmu released the Maithili edition of the Constitution. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s BJP government had included Maithili in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, while Narendra Modi’s government has announced the formation of Makhana Board in this year’s budget. Makhana is associated with the cultural identity of Mithila. The BJP’s effort is to increase its base by winning more and more seats. Therefore, he has also given more berths to Mithila to Mithila to Mithila. At the same time, the main opposition party is demanding to make Mithila a separate state to increase its penetration in this area. He says that only after this Mithila area will be developed.
