Bareilly, Amrit thoughts: Even after several notices, the Municipal Corporation has now tried the big defaulters who have not paid taxes. 50 defaulters of the four zones have been declared defaulters. The list of their names will now be installed in public places along with zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation. These defaulters have also been warned of strictness if they do not pay arrears by 31 March.
There is now only about 15 days left for the financial year to end, but the targets of the tax department of the municipal corporation are still far away. The target is 125 crores but relative to this, only about 52 crores have been recovered. On the instructions of the government, daily tax collection is being reviewed. After the strictness of the government, the tax department has declared the 50 largest defaulters as defaulters. The arrears involved in these arrears from 30 lakh to seven crore rupees.
At present, zonal in -charge has been entrusted with the responsibility of paying tax from these arrears. After Holi, it has also been claimed to take strict action on them. However, before this, several claims of officers like sewing bank accounts of big defaulters and attaching property have come out air.
The most defaulter zone-2
Bareilly: The highest number of 26 defaulters in the list of outskirts of the four zones of the Municipal Corporation is in Zone-2. The highest amount is also outstanding on these. The second number is Zone-3 where there are 11 large arrears. The dues of Zone-2 and 3 have put the municipal officials in the most difficulty. They have been outstanding tax of crores for many years. Every year he goes on to notice and warns them but still they are not paying tax.
Many government departments also defaulters
Bareilly: There are also several defaulters government departments declared defaulters for not paying house tax. These include UP Power Corporation, Department of Industries, Executive Engineer Jal Nigam as well as two Inter College. They also owe tax in millions and crores. Preparations for action are also underway against them.
