About 17 years ago, famous director Vipul Amritlal Shah’s film ‘Namaste London’ became one of the most iconic films of Indian cinema. The film showed the best confluence of comedy, drama and patriotism, which made it her special place in the hearts of the audience around the world. However, one of the most powerful moments of this film was Akshay Kumar’s patriotic monologue, in which he speaks about India’s greatness in a passionate manner, while Katrina Kaif translates it in English. This scene remains the favorite of the audience even today. But do you know During the shooting of this iconic scene, the thinking of the British people present there had changed!
In an interview, Vipul Amritlal Shah said that after listening to this monologue, the attitude of the British crew on the set had completely changed. He revealed that when Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif read this scene for the first time, they were aware of it, but they were promised to give them a more powerful version. When he got this new version, he was very impressed to see it and was completely convinced that this scene would be super hit.
Vipul Shah advised Akshay and Katrina to keep it simple as he trusted the strength of the dialogue. Both artists performed it with so much emotion and honestly that the whole scene was completed in just 2-3 hours.
During the filming, Vipul Shah was excited about how Akshay Kumar will deliver the first big monologue of his career. But they saw another interesting thing on the set of British crew’s face!
About 12-13 Indian crew members on the set were from Britain except the members. When Akshay gave this speech, many British crew members were shocked to hear it. Initially, some felt that perhaps these things are being exaggerated. But when he came to know that every line in this scene is historically true, he was completely surprised.
‘Namaste London’, which was released in 2007, was a superhit due to Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s brilliant chemistry and unique mix of romance, comedy and cultural drama. Now 18 years later, this iconic romantic-comedy film is again releasing in theaters on 14 March 2025, so that the audience can once again enjoy its magic!
