New Delhi:
On the occasion of Mahakumbh Mela, Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu has made a big announcement. In a special interview with Lokjanta, he has told that aerial fare has been cut by 50 percent for passengers going to Mahakumbh Mela. The new rate of rent has come into force from today itself.
The government had already directed the airlines to cut ticket prices. For this, three meetings were held with the airline companies. Airlines were reminded that the Mahakumbh Mela is once in 140 years and they should be conscious of its importance.
The government has ensured that the fare deduction does not cause financial loss to the airlines. Earlier, the aviation monitoring organization DGCA had asked the airlines to rationalize the air fares for Prayagraj flights. On January 23, DGCA officials held a meeting with the airline representatives in this regard.
Millions of people are reaching the country and abroad to be a part of the Mahakumbh Mela in the confluence area of Prayagraj starting on 13 January. Due to this, the demand for air travel increased very fast, due to which there has been a huge bounce in the fares. In such a situation, the Civil Aviation Ministry had asked the airlines to rationalize ticket prices.
According to IndiGo’s website, the ticket price for 31 January is more than Rs 21,200 and the lowest price for February 12 is Rs 9,000. IndiGo operates flights from Lucknow, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad to Prayagraj.
Currently, 132 flights are being operated from various cities of the country with about 80,000 monthly seats for Prayagraj. Prayagraj is connected through direct and connecting flights reaching 26 cities.
