Amrit Vichar, Mainpuri : More than four decades after the murder of 24 Dalit persons by a gang of dacoits in Dihuli village, a local court has convicted three people for being involved in this terrible murder.
District government lawyer Pushpendra Singh Chauhan said, “On Tuesday, Special Judge Indira Singh found Captain Singh, Ram Pal and Ram Sewak guilty for his role in the Dharm Dalit murder case.” He said that the convicted persons would be sentenced on March 18. Chauhan said, “The massacre took place on 18 November 1981, when a gang of dacoits led by Santosh Singh (alias Santosh) and Radheshyam (aka Radhe) attacked a Dalit community in Dihuli village located in Jasrana police station area, which was a part of Mainpuri district at that time.
The attackers shot and killed 24 people, including women and children, and looted their belongings. “On November 19, 1981, a local resident lodged an FIR and after a detailed investigation, a charge sheet was presented against 17 dacoits including gang leader Santosh and Radhe. During the trial, 13 of the 17 accused including Santosh and Radhe died, while 13 of the remaining four, one of the remaining four, is still the same, one of the remaining four. Pal faced the trial.
After this tragedy, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi met the affected families to express her condolences, while the Leader of the Opposition Atal Bihari Vajpayee at that time had traveled from Dihuli in Firozabad to Sadupur to show his solidarity with the victim families.
